FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Wayne High School star athlete will continue his football career after signing Wednesday his national letter of intent with The Ohio State University.
Dozens of family, friends, coaches and teammates were on-hand Wednesday at a ceremony at the gym prior to the Wayne Bowl between Miami, Young’s middle school alma mater, and Towles Montessori Intermediate School.
Young, who played both ways at Wayne, committed to the Buckeyes on June 15. He also had offers from Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State and Central Michigan.
He racked up 700 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns this past season, when he earned All-Summit Athletic Conference honors.
Young is also a standout basketball player and track athlete for the Generals. He averaged 17.4 points and 7.6 rebounds as a junior on the court, and finished 3rd in the state in the 100-meter dash. After originally electing not to play basketball or run track as a senior, he has decided to rejoin those teams.
