FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Wayne football team have seen significant improvement each of Derrick Moore’s first three years as head coach (0-10 in 2015, 2-8 in 2016, 5-7 in 2017).
Now in Year 4, the Generals hope to take another step in the vaunted Summit Athletic Conference. For Wayne, it starts with senior wide receiver Craig Young.
“Physically, he’s a beast,” Moore says of Young, an Ohio State recruit. “Athletically, he’s gifted. But he’s got to lead us mentally.” Young is joined by an experience squad that only lost 3 defensive starters and 2 offensive starters from a year ago.
Mental toughness has been the theme this offseason, Moore adds, with hopes of minimizing mistakes, executing game plans and crossing another threshold of success.
