FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Summit City Panthers held off the Homestead Spartans on Saturday to win the Indiana State High School Hockey Association 1A State Championship.
The Panthers killed off a penalty late in the game to secure a 3-2 win at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse. Goaltender Connor McKinnon had multiple saves with less than 2 minutes to go.
Joe Hacker, Trevor McKinnon and Jared McKinley scored for Summit City, which won its first state title since 2016.
Homestead netted goals from Benjamin Jennett and Keaton Coulter.
Summit City and Homestead both play in the Fort Wayne Amateur Hockey Association, which partners with Parkview Sports Medicine for more ice time, weekly hockey skills sessions, dry-land sports performance training and athletic training services.
