INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana High School Athletic Association unveiled on Monday new sectional groupings for football, boys basketball, girls basketball, volleyball, boys soccer and girls soccer.

The sectional realignments, good for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years, correspond to updated classifications based on enrollment, district consolidations and success factor. The realignments were determined by three committees of school administrators representing each IHSAA district and class.

Locally, the pairings match to a shift of several teams in particular sports moving up or moving down in classification. Most notably in football, Bishop Dwenger's move up to 5A and Northrop's and Snider's move down to 5A create an all-SAC Sectional 11.

In boys basketball, state champs Blackhawk Christian join Sectional 36 after moving up to 2A due to the Success Factor. That sectional features Adams Central, Bluffton, Canterbury, Manchester, South Adams, Wabash and Whitko, and is only one of 2 in the entire state featuring 8 teams. New Haven boys basketball, which moved up to 4A, is placed in Sectional 6 along side Columbia City, South Side, Wayne, Homestead and Huntington North.

The Central Noble girls basketball team is now in Sectional 21 after moving up from 2A to 3A based on the Success Factor. The Lady Cougars aline with Lakeland, NorthWood, Tippecanoe Valley, Wawasee and West Noble.

In volleyball, the addition of Columbia City and New Haven in 4A and the departure of Concordia to 3A has changed Sectionals 5 & 6. North Side moves to Sectional 5 with East Noble, Northrop, Snider, DeKalb and Carroll. While Columbia City and New Haven replace Yorktown and Muncie Central in Sectional 6.

In boys soccer, state champion Canterbury is on the move to 2A and Sectional 22 with Concordia, Manchester, Tippecanoe Valley, Rochester and Culver Academies.

In girls soccer, Bishop Luers is in 1A Sectional 40 with Blackhawk Christian, Canterbury, South Adams and Woodlan; while Lakeland joins Angola, DeKalb, NorthWood, Wawasee and West Noble in 2A Sectional 20.
