Cross country conference champs crowned

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Conference cross country champions were crowned Saturday at meets across Northeast Indiana.

Concordia was the big winner, sweeping both the boys and girls titles in the Summit Athletic Conference at Northrop. In the boys race, the Cadets (51 points) narrowly beat 2nd place Snider (52) and Northrop (53). That girls race was even more dramatic, as Concordia and Dwenger both scored 35, and results had to go to the 6th runner tiebreak. Concordia’s 6th runner crossed the line in 11th place, while Dwenger’s 6th girl finished 14.  Luers (80) came in a distant 3rd place.

At Huntington North in the Northeast 8 Conference, Huntington North’s boys (45) and East Noble’s girls (49) easily won the titles. In the boys race, Bellmont (62) was runner-up and DeKalb (107) finished 3rd. In the NE8 girls race, Huntington North (60) and DeKalb (71) rounded out the Top 3 teams.

Heritage claimed back-to-back Allen County Athletic Conference boys championships with a win on Saturday at South Adams. The Starfires finished 2nd.  In the girls race, South Adams clinched the crown while Heritage placed 2nd.

Westview boys cruised to a victory in the Northeast Corner Conference with 19 points over West Noble (West Noble’s .  In the girls race, Angola (53) nipped West Noble (56) and Westview finished 3rd. The NECC meet was held at West Noble.

In the Three Rivers Conference meet at Manchester, Wabash paced the boys race with 40 points. Manchester (87) and Rochester (110) followed.  On the girls side, Rochester (36) won, and was followed by Maconaquah (42) and Manchester (72).
